DaCast video streaming content can be integrated to serve advertising from ad networks to generate revenue. For broadcasters with large audiences, video ads can be a great way to monetize streaming content distributed over the cloud based platform to viewers. This feature is not available out of the box, like the other monetization features from DaCast. It requires a user to set it up.
DaCast streams can be played with ad network content so that prerolls, midrolls, overlays and more can be attached. This applies to both live streaming and VOD streaming (Video on Demand) over the DaCast platform.
DaCast gives you access to Public APIs that will let you hook in your own ad server. To do this, you will have to setup a third party player over our service that you can configure to accept the ads that will be served to your viewers.
Video advertising is a passive way to generate money from a viewing audience. It requires less commitment than completing a paywall and is generally more widely used to monetize video content from major providers.
However, ads aren’t always the right solution to monetize for broadcasters. In general, due to agreements and how CPM (cost per thousand impressions) works, advertisements favor those with large audiences or those who can present demographic data about their viewership that will be compelling to advertisers.
Advertisements on DaCast are an optional service to help broadcasters reduce their costs and generate revenue. All streaming done over DaCast is normally ad free as part of the service. This allows content to be streamed without interruption to viewers, or through developing paywall based premium streaming content.
