For analytics, “Plays” are how many times the content was accessed. So
every time someone loads the player and tries to access, it counts as a
play. If the player is on a dedicated page, this can give a good view of
the level of interaction or traction there. If its on a more global
page, though, this metric isn’t as valuable.
“Visitors” are every unique viewer that a stream or file gets. So one
visitor can play the content several times, meaning that visitors will
always be an equal to or generally smaller than the number of plays.
