I have a few questions about the new HLS Ingest;
Is there an encryption option with HLS ingest? If not are there are plans to support it? We have customers who are very security conscious.
Does HLS ingest (or will it) support some kind of live stream packaging. – where you encode a single high quality, high bit rate, and then the CDN produces multiple bit rates from that to automatically serve all speeds of clients etc
Is there a rough timetable for no longer having RTMP ingest support. So should we invest in HLS development?
Hi Andrew, thanks a lot for your question!
At the moment, there is no encryption option yet. We will implement it in the future.
Same goes for with live stream packaging, however, our free direct HLS encoder will soon support multi-bitrate streaming so you will be able to quickly set up all the renditions in your encoders which is a great alternative.
Also, you probably should invest in HLS, because we aim for the long run here: We will continue supporting RTMP Ingest for at least another year and in any case, we will make sure to warn customers several months in advance so they have time to prepare the transition.
I hope this answers your questions.
