I do low latency streaming with DaCast. In the Encoder settings for each channel, I see 2 URLs – one is a Stream URL and the other is a backup URL.
However, both the URL’s are Exactly the same.
So if the main URL (for whatever reason) fails and I need to use the backup URL, if both are exactly the same (not even one character difference) what is the point of providing such a so-called ‘backup’ URL?
No one has been able to explain this to me. Anyone out there with a satisfactory explanation for a dumbo like me?
Hi Etienne, I would be interested in helping you test the backup channel for my Low Latency channel (as long as it does not hamper my main channel in any way?)
I don’t know my account number – cannot find it on my dashboard anywhere – where can it be found? My email address and login though is pesi@telus .net
Thanks and regards,
Hello Pesi, thanks for your question.
Yes, the main URL and back up URL are the same for our low latency channels, this function is fully available with our default HTML5 live channels.
This is why we are working on a more stable low latency solution.
At this time, this is a public beta version with no backup URL but if but you are interested to test it, you can let us know your account number and email and we will get back to you with our next update as soon as it is out.
