Viewer DaCast is a component of the DaCast video streaming services. It is an optional feature that can be enabled by paying broadcasters streaming over the service. This includes live streaming and video on demand content. Free to view and monetized content behind a video paywall are also included. Below is a streaming Viewer FAQ about the service.
This FAQ is intended for viewers. If you are a broadcaster, please reference our support FAQ.
Yes for most. There are select legacy live streams that are Flash based by the choice of the broadcaster. However, almost all streams can be viewed over iPhones, iPad and Android devices.
If you purchased over a paywall from someone using DaCast, your credit card will show a fee from DaCast. The service is white label and its not always clear that DaCast is the provider.
The bitrate of the stream is too high for your connection speed or the broadcaster is having connection issues. When available, the best bitrate is automatically detected and enabled. You can always click the gear icon to change manually if you prefer a lower bitrate. Some streams will only have a single bitrate option.
The DaCast service is capable of broadcasting in HD, including 1080p and even 4K. Availability depends on the broadcaster or video uploader. Please note, most live streaming is not available in high definition. This is because it requires a large upload speed from the broadcaster and most viewers can not watch without disruption from buffering.
No, currently DaCast does not support viewing over Windows phones.
All questions related to streaming should be directed at the broadcaster. Please visit their site and look for contact details in this situation if they have mentioned a schedule and are down during it.
No. Both live and on demand streams are not available for download.
