Everything you need to know about the migration and Dacast
- How long does a typical migration take?Most mid-sized moves (around 250 to 500 videos) complete in about 24 to 48 hours. Smaller libraries often finish faster. Very large or complex setups can take longer, depending on approvals and how content is organized. Timelines are mainly influenced by access to your source account, naming and organization of your videos, and a few edge cases that may need extra attention near the end.
- Will my existing embeds break during the switch?Your existing embeds on your current platform will continue to play while your account there is active. However, embed URLs from your old platform cannot be automatically redirected to Dacast. You will need to update your embed codes on your site with new Dacast embeds. With guided support, most teams complete this step within hours.
- Can I keep my existing video library when migrating?Yes. Dacast lets you migrate your entire library. By default, the highest-quality video files, titles, and descriptions are transferred. Captions, thumbnails, chapters, and other metadata can also be moved after review. For bulk imports, entire libraries can be imported via API, and smaller custom selections can be migrated by video ID or simple list-based import.
- Can I migrate my subscribers or pay-per-view buyers?Subscriber records, purchase history, and entitlements from your previous platform cannot be migrated directly to Dacast. You will need to relaunch your paywall on Dacast and re-onboard your audience. The recommended approach is to export your subscriber email list from your current platform and send a migration notice pointing them to your new Dacast-powered content.
- Does Dacast support live streaming and VOD on the same platform?Yes. Dacast is a full OTT platform supporting live streaming, VOD hosting, and monetization on one dashboard. Live streams can be automatically recorded and converted to VOD. Ingest protocols include RTMP, SRT, and WebRTC/WHIP.
- What kind of support does Dacast offer?Every Dacast plan includes 24/7 human support via chat, email. Phone support is available from the Scale plan and above.
