Dacast Launches SRT Ingest for Reliable Live Streaming, Joins the SRT Alliance

Dacast adds SRT Support

– February 3, 2026
Dacast, a global online video platform, today announced full support for SRT ingest — a protocol for low-latency, packet-loss-resistant live streaming — giving video streamers a more reliable alternative to RTMP for contribution over unpredictable networks. Dacast also announced that it has joined the SRT Alliance, a collaborative community of streaming innovators dedicated to advancing reliable video transport.

The SRT Alliance, founded by Haivision in April 2017, already has more than 700 members. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), the fastest growing open-source streaming project. SRT is a free open-source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, which enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.

“Our customers — from university AV teams to event production agencies — told us they needed more options for difficult network conditions. SRT gives them that flexibility without changing how they deliver to viewers,” said Pablo Hesse, CEO of Dacast.

“When platforms like Dacast adopt SRT, it means more organizations can access reliable contribution workflows through tools they already use. That’s exactly what the Alliance was built to enable,” said Peter Maag, Chief Strategy Officer at Haivision.

Key Benefits of SRT Support on Dacast

  • Reliable live contribution across variable networks: SRT empowers streaming teams to maintain consistent streams even over unpredictable connections, ideal for outdoor events, remote corporate broadcasts, or bonded cellular setups at multi-site campuses.
  • Complementary to existing workflows: SRT does not replace RTMP; rather, it adds a powerful alternative that teams can choose based on production needs and network conditions.
  • Encoder flexibility: Works with OBS, vMix, Makito, Larix Broadcaster, and most hardware encoders that support SRT output—no proprietary software required

Joining and contributing to the SRT Alliance reinforces Dacast’s commitment to open standards and collaboration. The Alliance’s broad membership continues to grow, representing a shared vision for more reliable, secure, and low-latency video transport across the industry.

About the SRT Alliance
The SRT Alliance is a collaborative community of industry leaders and developers striving to achieve lower latency internet video transport by continuously improving SRT, an open-source video transport protocol and technology stack. Originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, SRT optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with secure streams and easy firewall traversal, bringing the best quality live video over the worst networks. Haivision was awarded an Emmy® for Technology and Engineering from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for developing the SRT protocol.
