Frequently Asked Questions

Can I host non-video and audio media on Dacast?

Dacast can host audio media and non-video files that are directly related to video files. Splash screens, thumbnails, MP3 and MP4 files are supported. PDFs, Flash Animations, Slideshows and other non-video files are not supported.

How do I create a playlist channel?

Creating a playlist on Dacast only requires a few simple steps. Navigate to “Channel Packages and Playlists” and click “Create.” For a tutorial with visuals, check out our “Creating a Playlist Channel” walkthrough.

Can we use full HD content in our playlists?

Yes, you can have full HD content in your playlists. The only thing to note is that playlists function like live channels, without an option for multi-bitrate. As a result, viewers with slower connection speeds will not be able to successfully watch HD content without a lot of buffering.

Can I make a Playlist for VOD files?

You absolutely can make a Playlist for VOD. To create a playlist, go to the live section and select ‘New Live Stream’ then select Video Playlist in the drop down menu. Then you can configure your playlist including the order in which your videos play.

Does Dacast support Dynamic Adaptive Live Stream Transcoding?

Dacast does not currently support Dynamic Adaptive Live Stream Transcoding, but we are open to adding that feature in the future.
