Dacast & AmpLive Partnership to Boost Your Live Events
Big news! We’re announcing today that Dacast is now partnering with AmpLive. AmpLive is the premier distributor of live streams. They work with a network of more than 3,000 publishers globally to get your streams in front of high-quality audiences, fast.
This service will be extremely useful to Dacast broadcasters and accessible at a very special price. Whether you broadcast live music shows, church services, online sport, product launch, corporate events or something else, AmpLive can help you get content in front of more viewers.
What is AmpLive?
Here’s the overview: “AmpLive enables content creators to distribute their live video content to a qualified, targeted audience at a massive scale. Their video is distributed through content formats across an audience network of 150 million viewers. Views are guaranteed, and audience data is reported in real-time.”
How does this work?
AmpLive targets viewers based on the content of your live stream. This targeting can be drilled down by geography, demographics, behavior, or interests. Once a target audience is defined, AmpLive determines which partner publishers are hosting or showcasing relevant content. At this point, live streams are embedded on these sites and delivered to visitors instantly.
Partner sites for AmpLive include powerhouses such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and TechCrunch.
Using AmpLive to boost live stream viewership
Using these partnerships, AmpLive is able to guarantee an audience for every live stream using their system. Whenever a user visits the page in question, the video stream will automatically begin playing.
A “view” is counted after a user has remained for 5 seconds or more with the video 100% in-view. That’s about double the industry average for counting “views.” Combined with granular targeting, this means that AmpLive can help you reach a substantial number of people. And, these will be high-quality viewers.
AmpLive can also reach users across the entire internet. That’s much more broad targeting than a Facebook or YouTube stream. There are marketing techniques and other methods for boosting your audience size. But using AmpLive is a really efficient way to reach viewers and especially, to reach the right audience.
Let’s take a look at a few case studies of organizations that have used AmpLive to boost their live stream viewership.
Climate Reality Project
One great example of AmpLive’s services in actions comes from former Vice President Al Gore’s group, the Climate Reality Project. In December 2016, the Climate Reality Project planned a 24-hour live stream. The subject was the issue of climate change. The stream highlighted different countries around the world.
The challenge for this live stream was to bring it to as many people as possible globally. Their stream was focusing on greenhouse gas emissions from the 24 largest polluting countries, so they wanted to reach many countries.
Using the AmpLive service, this stream was ultimately able to reach 25.6 million viewers over the course of their 24-hour live stream. On average, each user spent 9 minutes watching. That means people viewed their stream for a total of 3.8 million hours.
AmpLive’s tools for analytics and audience tracking also provide an advantage. This data allows the Climate Reality Project to plan ahead for engaging with the same audience next year, for their 2017 live stream.
As a digital media platform, SiliconANGLE hosts an event known as Spark Summit East, which focuses on data science and engineering and includes some of the biggest names in the business. This event took place in Boston in February 2017, and one of SiliconANGLE’s goals was to monetize.
They were able to work with sponsors to monetize the event on a per-viewer basis. This meant that encouraging a large number of viewers to join the broadcast was essential to success.
They turned to AmpLive for support, and through their services were able to live stream to an audience of more than 66,000 people. This audience included a large proportion of engaged users and a high click-through-rate to their dedicated landing page.
AmpLive highlights a number of other case studies on their website, including:
- Microsoft driving 1.8 million live viewers to their stream
- Teradek reaching 1 million people and boosting conversion rates by 7x
- Major League Soccer (MLS) increasing views by 30 percent
