Webinar: Everything You Need To Know About Delivering Video Into China

In early 2019, DaCast–an established SaaS platform offering video hosting and live streaming solutions–acquired video hosting platform vzaar. This acquisition brings together two major players in the online video streaming industry. Overall, it will allow diverse businesses to access more powerful video hosting and live streaming solutions at the best rates.

Since its founding in 2007, vzaar has become one of the most trusted video hosting companies for secure video hosting and delivery worldwide. Among other benefits, DaCast’s acquisition of vzaar means a more advanced video platform that supports video hosting in China.

How to Deliver Video to China Successfully

In recent years, there’s been a surge in US and European organizations focusing on growth in the emerging Asia market. Growth in China, in particular, has sparked a rush and fascination to be able to effectively deliver video content to the Chinese audience.

However, there remain tight controls and restrictions established by the Chinese government in terms of streaming video. As a result, delivering video content into China is often a challenge. Nonetheless, there are still effective ways to deliver video content to audiences in China.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • The opportunity for non-Chinese companies to distribute video content to China
  • What exactly the ‘Great Firewall of China’ is and how it impacts video distribution
  • How to put together a video strategy that reaches your audience in China
  • The video technology solutions available to support each strategy

The speakers featured in this webinar include:

  • Matt Childs, 50Wheel
  • Karmen Birkett, DaCast
  • Adrian Sevitz, DaCast

    Hello.
    1. How is content or content-type, delivered into China, filtered when using DaCast/Vzaar? Does the firewall still apply.
    2. Does this work best by having a player embedded in a Chinese hosted website, or does DaCast/Vzaar offer landing page facilities that work for Chinese viewers?
    3. How would we handle difficulties with Chinese authorities? I’m thinking again of content filtering and how we could learn what is appropriate to deliver to China.
    Thanks!

      Hello Stephen,
      Thanks for your questions.
      1. We actually stream through a Chinese CDN (Chinacache) which is the largest CDN on the Chinese market. I am not sure I understand your question on the global Chinese firewall: it won’t affect your video.
      2. If you go through DaCast and then to China using DaCast services, you would probably need your website to be accepted in China and then it will be on your site.
      3. Basically, if you were to sign with us in order to diffuse in China, you would need to sign a waiver saying that you will not stream any inappropriate content through your videos. This is a very serious contract as not complying with Chinese authorities would make your videos get block by the authorities, then the CDN to our company, which is obviously something we do not want. But as long as you stay in the Chinese Government Guidelines, you will be totally fine!

I hope this answers your questions, do not hesitate to contact me directly on etienne.noualhat@dacast.com if you have other inquiries and I will make sure to answer!
